I agree with the checking up to blackbelt, but once you start getting second and third degrees (which are just given out over time) you should just check the time between belts that you already approved. It was easier to get my second degree blackbelt certificates from the IBJJF (where I had to get a background check, take a referee course, and also take a sexual harassment course) than it has been here. Also, it took my previous ability to vote away while sitting here waiting for months or whatever to get mine approved. So I can't vote for my students, while I sit and wait for months to get mine approved. Shouldn't I at least still have the voting weight of my previous 1st degree black belt? Thanks Josh Ketry |

I was promoted to 1st degree in November 2020 by Professor Felipe "Zicro" Neto (6th Degree black belt) at Zicro Academy/ Alliance Jiu Jitsu Tallahassee Team. Been training and competing for like 14 years. Helping out at the school in every which way I can. Looking forward to using this platform more than Facebook. Good advice, its almost when a new students asks when they are getting stripes or a belt promotion. Just keep training and it will happen. Its the journey that makes the goal of black belt memorable. Once you get your black belt, you realize the real work has just started. Once you get your black belt, you have to work hard to maintain it. |
Sure I am down for people to vote on my profile, I am just a white belt so it really doesnt make a whole lot of difference to me if anyone votes on my profile. I frequently go trough profiles and vote. I do not care if it's a blue belt or a black belt and I do not care if they got allot of votes from other High Belts. I only vote if I see enough evidence for me to feel comfortable with them actually holding the rank. Often I see pictures only from when they had lower belts and/or promotion pictures where you can't see the face of the person getting the belt. I never give my vote to these profiles. So yea a complete and well documented profile is what people need to go for. I really want more votes on my profile, because it's nice to have a high level of trust on your profile and rank. Still I will be doing this by improving my profile and not by begging in forums for votes. It's not even much work to complete the profile to be up to standards to recive votes. I am constantly nagging the peopel at my gym to sign up and get there profiles up to a good quality. |
